Anuja Shah is a licensed attorney in both California and India. She works in the Commercial, Trademark, and Privacy Group at Inventus Law, where her practice spans brand protection, privacy compliance and strategy, and commercial contracts.
Anuja helps clients build and defend their brands at every stage, from trademark clearance and registration strategy to prosecution, office actions, portfolio management and pre-litigation strategies. With particular expertise in trademark law, she guides startups and technology companies through the complexities of protecting their brand identity as they scale, including navigating conflicts, responding to oppositions, and developing enforcement strategies. Her earlier experience in anti-counterfeiting, customs enforcement, and domain name disputes gives her a well-rounded perspective on brand protection across markets.
She also advises clients across various sectors on privacy compliance across jurisdictions, with experience in California privacy laws (including the CCPA/CPRA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the emerging requirements of the EU AI Act. She helps clients with drafting numerous agreements from privacy policies, terms of service, AI usage policies, information security policies, and data processing agreements, to designing compliance strategies that manage regulatory risk while supporting business growth.
In addition, Anuja drafts and negotiates a wide range of commercial contracts, including master services agreements, SaaS agreements, IP license agreements, NDAs, and vendor and customer agreements.
Licensed across two legal systems, Anuja frequently advises clients in both California and India. Prior to joining Inventus Law, she worked at a leading intellectual property law firm in Mumbai, India, where she advised a diverse range of clients on IP matters, including trademark and copyright law, IP due diligence, domain name disputes, anti-counterfeiting, customs enforcement, and data protection.
Anuja holds an LL.B. (J.D. equivalent) from Government Law College, India, and an LL.M. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, with a certification in Law and Technology. She is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional in both, Europe (CIPP/E) and the USA (CIPP/US). In her free time, Anuja enjoys reading, hiking, playing tennis, and petting every dog she encounters. She is fluent in English, Hindi, and Gujarati.
